The reason it is only $11.50 is that it is USB 1.1, which is very slow compared to USB 2.  It will work if your ports are USB 2 because they are backwards compatible with USB 1.1.  If your ports are USB 1.1, a USB 2 card reader would operate only at USB 1.1 speed.  You should find out which USB ports you have because USB 2 ports with a USB 2 card reader will be much faster for you.  The price difference is only maybe $10 to $15 if you shop around online.  The speed difference is enormous.
