No, any modern HD can tolerate the vibration from any components in your
system. Since your problem occurred right after you replaced your CPU,
my first thought was it may be related to the bad power supply due to
the two new CPUs consumed much power than your old K5. A bad power
supply fails to provide stable voltage, which causes your system not
stable. The HD as one of the components in your system, can be effected
as well.
