The NIV probably does translate it in that manner.  They also mistranslate
many other passages that totally change the meaning of Scripture.  I have
proved it to myself by studying one of the words the NIV used to translate
as a carriage which would be drawn by horses.  The KJV, on the other hand,
translated the word as chariot.  The word translated by the King James
translators rendered the Hebrew word chariot based upon the context.  Also,
the Hebrew word translated as chariot in the passage I was studying, was
used only that one time in Hebrew throughout the entire Old Testament.  If
you accept, in my case, what I was trying to explain about a chariot in my
article, the NIV translation would have totally altered the meaning of the
passage.  This is just one reason, among many others, I don't use the NIV.
In some places the entire story is changed based upon what the NIV council
decided upon.
