actually, on VHF it's 5 on low, 10 medium and 50 high and 440 is the same 
except high is 35 watts, plenty of power for base I seldom use more than 10

Well, I don't care about mobile operation at all, just fixed op here.  The 
one thing I would like is something with decent audio quality as well as 
accessibility and
the usual features.  Sounds like of the radios being made right now that the 
tm-g707A is probably the best for what I want.  I couldn't find the power 
output, but
looks like maybe 25 watts or so based on the size of the powersupply they 
recommend using with it.  And, the price seems right!
