Wait a minute! I am still in my youth! I refuse to submit!!

Actually, I had a nearly heretical sense even as a sprout in this field
that it was important to be looking in real time at the stuff being
created around us to begin the process of sifting what is and is not
important. Because of the accelerating pace of society, I believe that
the old tried and true '50-years old and it's historic' standard will
find us looking at a lot of empty holes where the stuff that was 25-30
years old when it was demolished used to be.

The accelerating pace is being further exacerbated by the rise of
'smart growth' concepts, which will increasingly put pressure on
existing resources to be removed in favor of more dense utilization of
land and current infrastructure. We will likely find ourselves flummoxed
and bewildered in a clash of values among competing "do-gooders."

dan it's not going to be as clear a choice as red and blue states becker
