Dear Listmates -
Thank you for all of the responses!
Here they are:
-Prilosec
-Tagamet in the OTC (over-the counter, not Rx)
    200 mg strength only
-One listmate said Tums, but I don't think those are GF.
Rolaids are GF. Rolaids Fresh Mint has artificial flavoring,
not peppermint oil, if of interest.
-Costco's generic equivalent of Zantac (rantinidine), and lower cost
-Zantac 150 - listmate called the manufacturer recently
-Pepcid (this person also mentioned that Prilosec is GF)
-Solgar's calcium carbonate supplement (at health food stores or
online) (no aluminum products in it)
-Titralac, an OTC product sold at Wal Mart

Finally, one listmate, a Registered Nurse (RN), replied (and posted
an email to our list) that overuse of acid blockers adversely
affects our health.

That's fine - but I have a Hiatal hernia (newly diagnosed, by endoscopy),
and my doctor deals almost exclusively with Celiac patients (at Rush,
Chicago).
He told me to take a H2 blocks (antacid) and Benadryl for now. Before
I started doing that, I had swallowing difficulty, and I could barely
eat and
was dropping weight (and I don't need to lose weight).

The hiatal hernia caused swallowing difficulty, acid, reflux. I have
both Obstructive apnea (wear an oral appliance - different cause
than the usual), and Central apnea (going to a neurologist, cardiolgist,
and a pulmonary specialist to find the cause - can have different causes).

My sleep apnea doctor says apneas can cause reflux. Well, so can the
hiatal hernia, and reflux can cause central apneas, according to a
couple of
web sites I found.

I am sleeping on a MedSlant wedge pillow for the hiatal hernia,
just started using CPAP (pressurized air during sleep), and will
continue to do what my doctor suggested, until the causes for my
problems can be found and treated.

Vicki
