BlankThanks for the prompt answer! I have no idea why I began losing weight, just that I was being very strict with my diet, still am, and I guess I really don't eat many carbs and never bake. Well, once in awhile a pizza, gf, of course. My Dr. wanted to do more tests on me, like a scan, looking for cancer, I guess, but as I told him I felt great, better than I had in many years, and sick of tests, so he accepted that. Hang in there, you'll be fine, it is really hard at first, I know, but becomes a way of life. It is still upsetting sometimes to go somewhere and there not be a darn thing you can eat! My present husband is an absolute sweetheart, and very supportive of me. He has told off a few restaurant people who haven't treated me seriously or with respect. I just let him have at it! Ha, ha!

I was overweight. The gluten was affecting my thyroid. My thyroid numbers improved "on their own" when I went GF. The numbers were 3.5 before diagnosis and 2.5 several months later. I still have troubling losing weight - but it is not "impossible" as it seemed before. I also had a small goiter years ago - going off soy helped that go away.

Definitely, overweight people can be celiac. I was diagnosed in that condition.

I was diagnosed while being overweight. The only reason that I was tested is because they thought my Dad had Celiac. Otherwise, I may still be on gluten and having problems.

ME! I eat very little and still manage to put on weight. I watch what I eat. Since going on the milk and gluten free diet. I have gained even more. Weight Watchers I spent 6mths and lost 15lbs compared to all my friends who lost 50-70lbs in the same time AND they ate a lot more than I did. They always joked about buying my points from me because I always had extra.
Beats me. I do believe that carbs are my biggest problem.

OK, Dawn here again - that's it for the summaries (enough - I think that was 7 or 8 emails!!! :) ). Thank you all SOOOOOOOO much! I'm doing well - feeling really good other than being very tired. That gets to me but maybe it's the malabsorption still? I am anemic too. Not sure what the gastro doc will say next week - I'm very curious. My husband and I have decided that I will not go off GF in order to get a diagnosis. I've spent enough time in my life feeling sick - it's time to move on (I went GF last July on my own and felt well within a day or two!). I do, however, hope for a diagnosis - either via me or via our kids. Although I do hope that none of our kids have CD, but our daughter has the same symptoms as I have had. I'm doing fine eating GF but I have had times when I've just about cried while walking through the bakery section of the grocery store. Silly eh? All that SOFT bread!!! And I'm in mourning for it!! Feeling good and being healthy is worth more than soft bread though! :)
