I did not look up the Hitachi laptop drive model you gave but most
likely it's what is referred to as a 2.5" drive. The simple way to get
data off of it is to use an 2.5" to 3.5" adapter. Here is a link to ebay

Also, if you put the drive into a USB or Firewire external case you can
use it as an extra drive but the case cost is more.
