They are now Educable, Trainable, Severe and Profound. IQ scores never work
well on kids on autism spectrum, it's the nature of the beast. Was in a
meeting a while ago for a little girl on the spectrum and the school was
trying to not put in some of the mother's goals such as not jumping on
furniture. They were trying to give her developmental level of 18 months.
Turned to mom and said it's not valid, it's only a average of her abilities.
Got the psychologist all flustered. The guy didn't use the correct test,
didn't use standard scores and most of all didn't know the little girl.

Beth,
There are three levels:
Idiot-IQ < 20.. later termed severe MR
Imbecile IQ 21-49 later termed moderate MR
Moron IQ 50 - 75 later term mild MR
I was never comfortable with these levels since they mainly based on IQ,
thus not considering social skills. I assessed one autistic child oof 12
which could not define simple words such as "orange", yet could read the
title of the test manual! She had never been to school! Maybe that's why she
could read! LOL
Bobby
I remember, I remember but, then again I'd be just showing off.
