Neither was the WTC.
Funny though, how the first thought in mind when reading the air-garage
story was the crazy image of an explosive car fire in a high-rise and all
the Fire Safe design programs that ask for detached garages.
Second thought was about the acre upon acre upon gazillion acres of suburban
homes with built in garages, and I can not remember ever seeing or hearing
of one blowing up, although I am sure it must happen, otherwise why would we
think about it. The odds seem so low, why bother to worry? Or is it that
we have some need to be scared, and the rest of life is becoming so SAFETY
PRACTICED that we subconsciously long for some decent risk to live with to
keep us on edge and make us feel like warriors. My son who writes safety
specks has another opinion about risk management, but then, I think he is
paid by the pound for his paper reports.
