At first I didn't try to assign any meaning to the name but once you asked it occurred to me that it might mean a modified, modular, or modern "shotgun" house. As I recall that is a floor plan that has a central hallway that runs from front to back so you can fire a shotgun in the front door and out the back without hitting anything (like walls) in the process. That probably is a simplified explanation.
But what do I know, I'm only an engineer with a mild interest in architecture.
