Howard, which meter did you buy?
If you have the LDG TW-1, just hold in the button that reads the forward
power for a few seconds, and it will put the meter into a mode where it
puts out a tone that you can peak for max power. Since all my stuff is
solid state no-tune, I haven't actually used this feature of the meter, but
I recall reading about it in the instructions.
