I had 3 of these radios and they were some of the best rigs at the time
that I had with great coverage for MARS and CAP and the latter for
speech. I inadvertently switched the batter connection late one night
and fried the 240 mostly beyond recognition. I traded it but do to
recall if the guy ever got it working. the speech was among the most
pleasant sounding of any I know of at that time.
The 2015 2016 also would let you do primitive spread spectrum frequency
hopping.
