both radios don't have voice read outs so you can't tell what frequency you're on that way but the menus are good because you can count clicks off the beep and stuff at least with the 271, I have one in the mobile and it's a good accessible little radio if you can count clicks on the tuning dial. The only ones that have voice are the duel banders and the HF radios, the 2 meter only radios and hand helds don't have that feature yet.

  Subject: narrowed down my choices

  hello,
I have two choices of kenwood radio i would be getting or would like to
get, but i went to the kenwood website and couldnt find docs on either so
I would like to know, for each radio below, are they accessible,
is it a count the click to set frequency, hoping that your on what you
want, or is it output in voice and/or can you enter the frequency on the
keypad/some other way to set things.. Ok, the two choices i have in mind
  are: th-k2at and tm-271a
  thanks
  matt
