some one can hook up a foot switch with 1 of the accessory jacks on the back
I'd bet.

That's the most effective.  I used to use a Heil mic with my
Icom rigs.  I abused the headsets too badly so went with one
of their regular microphones designed for the Icom units.
Naturally as a sound guy and musician I have plenty of
stands.  FOr awhile a table stand such as I use for miking
bass drums was the thing, then I started using a stand with
a boom arm so that I freed up some desktop real estate.

Now with my Kenwood ts-440s their desk mic has no provision
for a foot switch.  SUre miss it.  I end up using the lock
button next to the regular momentary ptt a lot.
