Not really.  The TS140S was probably a little smaller (but not much), but
it wasn't accessible, not in the slightest.  You have to remember that in
it's day, the Kenwood TS440S was really cutting edge technology.  It was
Kenwood's first mobile radio to have an auto tuner built in, and it was
their first radio to have a voice synthesizer, and it had a general
coverage receiver that was a considerable improvement over the TS430S (it's
predecessor).  In 1987, when the radio was introduced, it was quite a
breakthrough.
