More than 55 watts peak on SSB I would say.  That's disappointing.

Actually, the 40 watts average doesn't surprise me becausethere are lots of
quiet time slices in a moment of SSB audio, but I would have expected peaks
much closer to the rated output.

P.S.  What do you see if you inject a steady tone on SSB?
