Congratulations on passing your examination! I bet you are looking forward
to receiving your callsign and making your first contact. Here's a word of
advice for when you get on the air:
Before you hook your radio up to your computer, you should first make sure
that you are able to make a voice contact. This will allow you to check for
technical issues with your radio/antenna before you try and initiate digital
communication. What kind of radio are you planning to rent? I would
recommend the Kenwood Tm-g707 because it has a touch-tone keypad on the
microphone and can be equipped with a voice board. If you would like, you
can write to me off-list and I will give you further technical advice.
Again, congratulations on your license!

Eric

Hi,

Well I have passed my exam. Yes, you heard it right, I passed my exam. And
here are my results:

total number of questions: 35

correct answers: 29

Wrong answers: 6

percent correct: 82

percent wrong: 18

My license number will appear in the ULs in 10 days or so.. after this, I'll
rent a radio from handihams and use that. Of course I'll also create a
home -fm station like I do with my rca headphone. I'll need instructions on
this later, since I am not sure how I will be able to connect my radio to my
computer.

Anyhow, as people say, more hams on the air!
