this is only uhf/vhf anyway, you want long distances you mainly want to get
up to HF though once in a while,

Well, not a bad price for a ham radio. 50 wats can be enough. I am sure it
wont bring you to long distance, because I've seen a 100 watt radio for 900
dollars. You can use it to communacte arround your city.
