I have seen quarter round moulding used in the original construction of
buildings from 1700 in every era onward through the 20th century to
today, so I could not relate specific dates to quarter round. The nails
that attach the moulding would carry much more information, perhaps
denoting the century, and the moulding's context, how it relates to
surrounding materials (paints and finishes, overlapping layers, maker's
marks, etc) would get into the details, perhaps suggesting a
quarter-century or a specific decade. With the study of documentary
sources relating to the building specific years can be pinned down.
