It has been a little while since I swapped around drives in a Dell, but at
the time they were very fond of jumpering all drives to the "cable select"
option, where master or slave is determined by which connector is plugged
into the drive. This does minimize the need to change jumpers, but it also
can mean that the system may not agree with the user about which drive is
master now.... Adding a drive jumpered for a specific role may produce a
conflict, so all jumpers need to be checked carefully.
