Hi there,

My latest (March/April 2002) University of Wisconsin web accessibility
data are now available. Most of the data, which cover the 13 larger
campuses within the UW system, reflect the accessibility of top-level
pages: homepages plus the pages directly linked to them. To the best of
my knowledge, this is the only study that provides longitudinal data on
web accessibility (covering the period 1999-2002).

Four findings are particularly worth mentioning:

1.      Library web pages have made remarkable progress during the past
year on both accessibility indicators: percentage of Bobby-approved web
pages and average of accessibility errors per web page.
2.      In comparison, web accessibility at general campus and
departmental sites has only improved mildly.
3.      With three exceptions, individual UW campuses now have policies
or guidelines in place that demonstrate their commitment to accessible
web design.
4. Despite accessible web policies or guidelines, some campus web sites
continue to be highly inaccessible.
