You are talking solid state amps yes? If so do they run on 110 or would I need to drop a 220 volt
line in here if I wanted to do something like that?

I suppose 3 DB makes a difference if your signal is right at the
noise floor, but in any other case, it's only a half an S unit, and
not likely to make much difference.
