Hi,
I had a great dining experience at Outbacks in New York City at the 3rd Avenue & 55th Street location. The waitress (Alexis) came over to our table and immediately recognized the gluten free menu that I printed off of the web. She explained that their location had a specific GF menu, which she quickly obtained for me. She walked thru the menu items and pointed out that brown sugar is used for the sweet potatoes and that she will make sure to grab some sugar from the bottom of the bag, since they normally put a piece of bread on the top of the bag to prevent some sticking (something that I normally would not have thought about.) Alexis also explained that she helped in prepare the GF black 100 % flourless brownie/ice cream desert. The manager came over during the meal to check on my meal, since he heard that I was a celiac. All food was excellent. I could not have had a better meal in any of the city's 5 star restaurants. I highly recommend this restaurant and ask for Alexis - extremely helpful.
Marty
