I have a question I'm asking for someone I've been communicating with over
the phone. (I have 2 children with Celiac) Here is her story: There is a
strong family history, 2 uncles with Celiac. 3 y.o. boy having rectal
beeding since Dec. GI did colonoscopy and endoscopy. Biopsy showed some
evidence of possible celiac damage. So blood tests were done and came back
inconclusive due to low IgA. Doctor suggested putting him on GF diet and
rebiopsy in 6 months. She's really struggling with wanting a definitive
diagnosis. Not sure she wants to do the gf diet since he has no obvious gi
symptoms. I explained about the low IgA effecting the blood test results.
Also that low IgA is more common inpeople with celiac. What she'd really
like to hear is other people with children with similiar inconclusive
results and how you found out for sure. Thanks and I'll pass on responses
to her.
