This is an addendum to my summary on dried fruit. I had put Craisins under "not GF" because a member had told me that she had contacted the company (I don't know when) and had been told that they were not GF due to cross-contamination or something similar (she couldn't remember for sure the reason). Since none of the other replies I received mentioned Craisins, there was no reason to question. However, since posting my summary, I have gotten many replies saying that Craisins are GF. It seems that the most recent information says that all flavors of Craisins are GF but mixes, such as Trail Mix are not.

"Today I looked in the 10th Edition of CSA Gluten-Free Products listing book. Craisins weren't listed but Ocean Spray's phone number 800-662-3263 was listed. I called and spoke to Joanne. She assured me that craisins are gluten free, including the flavored ones. She also said they understood there had been some misinformation about craisins. She is sending me a letter using the company letterhead. Then I will send it to CSA for inclusion in the 11th edition this fall. Hopefully that will help clarify the situation."

"I called Ocean Spray 1/9/06. The representative responded that all Craisins brand dried cranberries are gluten free (no wheat, barley, rye or oats, or flour on a conveyor belt, or other contamination) made in a dedicated building. However, they have gluten concerns about the Chocolate-Covered Craisins and Trail Mix that is produced in another building. Avoid these combinations." (posted on the listserv recently)

"I just called about Craisins last week and was told they are gf - I am in Canada."
