The Mayo Clinic provids a good intro page on gout and diet.
It's diet recommendations may not hold for paleopeople. Still, it's
worth keeping in mind.
My own experience eating sardines daily was that one night while going
to bed, I felt an ache in my big toe and, being the son of a doctor! I
knew exactly what was going on. Then again, I was drinking red wine too
(I read somewhere that it too is high in purines). I've since given up
all alchohol and I'll only eat sardines once or twice a week.
