I like Vicki's points here.  I would add that one thing I do is to ask what
a person's interests are and then ask them quesitons about those interests.
For example, if someone says they like sports, ask about the kind of sports
and whether they play, watch games, or what.  If they have a spouse or kids,
ask how they are doing.  That's a concrete way to show you care about them
as a person and are trying to be friendly.  Also, if you need help from that
person, try to find a way to help in return, even if it's just praying or
taking them out for coffee.

I hope these thoughts are helpful to you, and I wish you the best in making
friends.  It can be hard as  a blind person to find someone to talk to,
especially in a crowd, but sometimes God has sent that person to me despite
the crowd.

I'll pray for you in your efforts to make more friends.
