I think your focus is just a bit too archaic on this... with long
trumpets we are talking Tibetan monastaries and not the uber Fred
Flintstone.
As to humans doing non-utilitarian architecture for aesthetic or
religious purposes I don't understand why you are adamant that they
would never build for acoustics prior to the 19th-20th century.
