I did it backwards too -- but as long as I hit "Cancel" when the New
Hardware wizard popped up, no damage had been done.  It's only if the New
Hardware wizard has actually tried to set up the device before the drivers
are loaded that you have problems, and in my experience those can usually be
fixed by removing the device from the Device Manager and letting the wizrd
try again now that the software is loaded.
