HI,
Is the modem a hardware or software based modem? Do you have latest
drivers?
If hardware, maybe setting a differenet com or IRQ setting would help
Maybe if it is using com 4 you should disable com 1/com 2 on the mainboard
(if it's there and not being used) and see if that will help.
For $10-15 you should be able to pick up a new modem ( even free after
rebates) if problem persists.
Thanks and have a Great Day!

=================================
Hi,
Now that I'm up and running sort of, I have a different problem. When I try
to dial out with my modem the computer locks and I have to hit the reset
button. The board is an Intel 865GBFL mobo with a P4 2.8A processor and one
stick of pc2700 512Mb of ram and I've got a Radeon 9200 video card. I've
tried reinstalling the drivers and plug and play recognizes the modem.
Device manager shows no conflicts. I've tried moving the modem to a
different PCI slot also wiht no luck. For some reason the modem is on com4
and when I click on that the machine also locks up the same way it locks
when I try dialing with windows dialer or try using my ISP. With the new
board I'm not sure whether there's some conflict, or something I need to
change, or if the modem has gone the way of the old mobo and power supply
and I just need to pick up a new one. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks.
