I have access to irlp but don't know how to use it and really don't know if
I should where I don't belong to the club with it on their repeater though
I'm friends with the owner of the repeater so I'm sure if I ask he'll let
me.

I am not a big fan of echo link either. The problem I have with it is you
can talk computer to computer, which doesn't really involve radio. I do
have an irlp node node here in Vegas, and at least irlp requires a radio
on each end--still voice over ip though. I use it mainly to chat with
friends back in Nebraska and Kansas. I honestly miss getting on hf as
much as I use to, but conditions suck, and I've got some huge power lines
here that give me about an s 7 or s 8 line noise on hf. If any of you
have access to i r l p, give me a call on node 3148.
