This resource is for people who want to operate Windows more efficiently by
taking advantage of macro software and macro techniques. Thank you to
everyone who wrote me with their questions and comments. This is the second
update to the FAQ this year.

Many assistive technologists and users with disabilities know little about
macros, yet properly-implemented macros save time, energy, and frustration.
For example, macros can reduce the time required to perform common PC tasks
by a factor of ten or twenty. In other words, a person who takes 30 to 60
seconds to complete a task using "standard" access techniques may be able to
do so in just a few seconds using a macro.

Running Windows without macros is like cycling through the mountains on a
fixed-gear bicycle. It can be done, but it is unnecessarily difficult. Think
of macros as gears for your computer. They reduce physical and mental effort
while multiplying speed and increasing efficiency.
