Department of the Treasury
The Bureau of Engraving and Printing is soliciting sources to develop an
inexpensive, pocket-size device to determine the denomination of U.S.
currency notes for the blind and low vision community. The reader must be
able to determine the denomination of all series 1996 currency and newer
designs, including the upcoming 2003 designs, as well as the existing $1
denomination design. Full and open competition is encouraged. All
interested businesses are requested to submit written quotations by Aug.
