Howard try putting a ground wire between the amp and the screw the holds the
plate on the outlet.  Another thing I have found that will work is to plug
in your audio device into a power bar and then plugging the power bar into
the wall.  That way if the house has a wiring problem the stereo and TV are
all on the same plug and the ground loop problem should go away.
