Hi Howard.
I'm not saying that blocking the vent was helpful to the situation, but
usually where corrosion is involved, there is a moisture issue.
As Steve pointed out in an earlier post, newer radios are employing more
digital circuitry that operates at lower operating voltages, making them
less forgiving where corrosion and poor connections are involved.
