it's actually considerably more for a all mode duel bander for some reason,
the fact there's only 1 on the market might be part of it. Lot of good used
stuff out there too though.

the tm v7a or d700 or the 708 all dual banders from kenwood are great
rigs..although, you could spend the extra doe and get a very nice all band,
all mode rig...the nice thing about the 706 is it gives you the side band
capabilities on VHF and UHF...which, when the inversions and VHF uhf
conditions are running good are allot of fun to work.
FM is great, but if you can get on side band with VHF or UHF it opens up
quite a few more possibilities.
And, to buy just a VHF UHF all mode rig it actually costs near to or more
then a new 706.
