That is my next step. It's going to be a pain to get the 746 out
to our RV trailer where the portable antenna is, but I think
that's the next thing that needs to be done.
Bob Tinney suggested a dummy load, which I probably should buy,
but I don't have one yet.
Actually, a club member I talked to today has one, so I may be
able to borrow that from him.
So, I agree--Apples to apples comparisons are best.
Will keep you posted.

I am replying a bit late to this. Conceivably, you could have
some line loss,
depending on what frequency you checked this on. Even a 2 DB
loss could
account for that difference. Have you tried using the 746 on the
same
feedline as the 718, that would really compares apples to apples.
