Gary, my friend,

I've had a Sony ICF-2010 since the year 1988. I listen to AM, FM, short
wave, air craft bands all the time. I've learned how to use the
synchronization so there won't be any noise whatsoever.

I do not use the standard whip antenna which came with the unit, but I wrap
a random-length of copper wire around the whip down at the end which goes
into the radio, and away we go! I get wonderful reception.

Yes, you are quite correct in that to tune with the tuning knob, you must
tune in 100 Megahertz steps, and on SSB, that can be quite disturbing.
Also, if you listen to CW like I do, and you're used to a certain pitch,
and you can't get that pitch, it gets irritating, to say the least!

But, all in all, it's the darn best radio I've ever had, and man oh man! I
wouldn't give mine up for a zillion dollars! Can you tell I love my
ICF-2010? HI HI!

73 and 88 where appropriate,
Reeva Parry,
