I was sort of active in 2001 when they had a lot of openings, but that was
mainly on VHF low-band and 10-meters, where just using a handheld scanner I
was hearing stuff from California when I was in Florida in the winter of
2002, and back here in Michigan hearing a lot of stuff from South America
and out west, and on one occasion someone on 10-meters from Germany in the
fall of 2001. That would be real spectacular though to hear something that
far away on 2-meters.
