As I understand it, one of the reasons tuners such as the one in the 2000s
aren't as good is because of the way they tune.  In my 440 and 690 radios
I had, they were tuned with little motors that adjusted variable c
components.  In the 2000, relays click on and off adding capacitance, in
some cases either having too much or not enough.
