Personally, I say, if you only want to have 1 radio,  get the portable, that
way, if you want to hook it to an antenna, you still can, if you want more
power, amplifiers aren't that bad down the road to buy, and the Kenwood
TH-F6A or Icom IC-T90A are the best 2 choices you could make for that.
