I also have a 2000 and like it.  I wish the pl tone select would speak,
but you can work around that.  Also, I wish they had just an on off switch
for the xmit monitor instead of having to turn down the level each time.

Speaking of the 2000, I just hooked up a cable to mine last night and
playing with the software I found on line.  I'm told there is a better
package available from Kenwood that comes with the computer version of the
20000.  Anyone know what this package will do that the free one does not.
The on I have just seems to let you do memory and menu settings.  Pretty
basic.
