the price has to do with the name, reputation and the quality.
In the electronics market you see this game played all the time, people buy
a product because of the name and not necesarily the fact that the product
is better in anyway then anything else.  DVD players for instance, you can
buy a pioneer DVD player for about $100, and then next to it on the shelf at
the store is one for $39.95.  They both exhibit the same general features,
have the same specs but one is a name you've never heard of and there is the
pioneer.  It is priced that way because if people see a higher price, they
automatically expect it to be a higher quality product, have better worantee
and last longer, which in almost all cases is mearly a perception.
Bose is a name, and has a reputation as a high end audio company so when
they charge 300 bucks for a set of head phones which you can buy at a
comparable price of $100 or less for a different name brand, that is because
the consumer has allot of expectations around the product and its quality.
