Hi Listmates,
First, thanks very much to everyone who took the time to respond to my
inquiry about the kefir.
Most responders agreed that I was having an allergic reaction of some
type. Apparently lots of folks react negatively to kefir.
I never thought it was a gluten problem, but I thought it might be
yeast-related. It's not thrush becuase I have no white spots in or
around my mouth.
I stopped drinking the kefir (I didn't stop sooner beucase I thought
the kefir was actually the "cure" and the symptoms would subside if I
really was having a yeast problem.
Some people suggested that I make my own kefir or try a different
brand (I was drinking the fruit-flavored Lifeway). One responder told
me to prick a borage oil capsule and apply it to my lips to hurry the
healing along. Flax oil or fisk oil would also probably do the trick,
she said.
Anyway, I have stopped drinking the kefir and my lips are healing.
Thanks very much! (I'm also not wasting my time on the dermotologist -
will go if my lips do not completely heal)
Lori
