It sounds like the green light is on in Ralph de Phelps' head pretty much all the time--a real free thinker.

It sounds as though he could provide a continuous stream of interesting anecdotes. Ask him who he plans to vote for this year (Ralph Nadir?)...

LOL! Yes, I can imagine TJ Follett would definitely get a kick outta
talking to this Ralph. They'd trade Gideon Bibles and JFK coins. I was
most amazed by his run for president - he was quite sincere when talking
about it. I did notice this morning that he was walking across the street
on one of his familiar routes. I was "out of the way" for him - he lives
across the street, which crossing can be a dangerous thing for him to do.

The other day, I was coming back from the post office, and was waiting at
the crosswalk. I didn't have the light, but was looking to see if there was
any traffic (Rudy G wouldn't appreciate my belief that I'm safer jaywalking
because I pay more attention to the traffic). There was a car coming.
Ralph was on the other side of the street, and started to walk out into the
middle of the road and yelling to me, "He'll stop, you can go now." The guy
did stop, making a very rude face at Ralph. I ran across, because I might
as well take the opportunity while I could. Ralph continued across the
road, whereupon I heard the driver yell at him, "Did you have a green light
that I didn't know about?" Rudy G would have felt justified in this case.
