Of course with a Compaq and it's 240 watt power supply any upgrade is risky,
but the 9600 XT seems like a reasonable choice, as it is not a particularly
power hungry video card. Take a look at the graph on this page,
http://tinyurl.com/5rvd7, from X-bit Labs. That website has done a more
indepth look at the power usage of a number of video cards, including the
9600 XT, but the graphs showing the data for those articles don't seem to be
working for me at this time.

Subject: [PCBUILD] Re purchasing Graphics card for compaq d530c PC

Hi to all List members.
I have recently purchased second hand a Compaq d530c computer with onboard
graphics chip and an 8x agp slot enabling me to upgrade to a graphics
card. There are endless possibilities for an upgrade but when considering
this as well as financial consideration (I dont mind spending about £100 on
this) .There is another consideration I have and thats the power supply on
the PC is only 240 watts.I really fancy the Radeon 9600xt being within my
budget at the moment. Has anyone on the list any help for me on this matter
The motherboard is an Intel 865g chipset.
