David, Heather and Mike,
As someone in my mid 40's with CP, I agree with the "not a 'childhood'"
disability. Welcome to the list! We talk about almost anything, and
like any family, sometimes disagree, but usually "play well with
others."

David and Heather,
Welcome y'all...
Bobby, Ken, Trisha, Kat, Nag, and I are old timers at this group. We've
discussed everything; from C.P. as primarily a childhood disability (I
don't
think so). to people staring, to powerchairs and scooters and
transportations. You'll find we are very diverse and tolerant.

I'm new to the list. I appreciate the forum. I support
inclusion of all voices on any given subject. If you
have CP, then life experience, outlook, opinion are
related by definition.
That said, I share Heather's point of view and her
concern.
The thread often begins with a forwarded post followed
by a half dozen or more replies. General locution
being, "Can you believe 'X'?" Followed by, "'X' is so
awful!"
"If 'X' is any indication, and between you and me,
ain't it just so?" and "all that and so much more...?"
"___ I'm so glad you told me about 'X'!"
"If X, then by all rights and dollars to doughnuts,
(Speculative syllogism) 'Y' will happpen too.
Emotional amplification without additional content:
"I don't need to tell you how pure tee awful that will
be, but such is the way of the world," etc. etc.,
etc."
"You're right about that___!"
Inevitable rejoinder: "I agree about the lack of
dollars and those damned awful doughnuts!"
Commiseration ad nauseum. 'round and round she goes...
I don't believe Heather was asking for censorship. I'm
not. It's impossible to tell if a post is important
until you've read it. I don't have infinite time and
space in my mailbox either.
Let's be friendly, informative and certainly feel free
to say what's on our minds. Brain-wise, I think the
more nutritional value included, the more thought
provoking and valuable the discussion
As for Katrina, how about a penny a word donation to
