Hello,
I have a sony vaio laptop (PCG-K45) with a QSI SBW242C DVD drive. Recently i have been having problems playing any dvd disk. Whether it be a game or a movie, it will not recognize the disk. For some reason under My Computer it is listed as a CD Drive only, and it says please insert a disk. I have read that there is a hotfix from microsoft for this issue, but they are such a pain to obtain. Also i have started to notice that if i have for example; and audio cd in my drive, when i remove it and place a new disk in, say a game, it still says audio cd is inserted. Any ideas on what can be causing this? Do i need a new disk drive? If so i would still like dvd capabilities. What would be a good drive? If i can fix without spending that kind of money for a brand new drive it would be great.
