1. Has anyone else experienced a failure where the audio is choppy and video
running slow?
2. I contacted the manufacturer already, but has anyone had luck replacing
the firmware in such a situation?
3. Most important - a recommendation for a new DVDRW drive?
Hi Peter,
1. Yes, I have had drives when they start to fail perform poorly, choppy and
slow.
2. I used Sony's drive checker and their update software to no avail. Sony
replaced one of the drives under warranty.
One was just a ROM and it failed first, I did not unplug the cables soon
enough and it took out the second drive the burner.
My daughters computer just had two drives fail the same way. One a Sony ROM
and the second a Liteon dvd + -dl.
3.I have tow other computers, one running a Benq 1625 lightscribe and a Sony
710a.
The one that I just built has a HP 640I and a Sony 810A.
I like the Sony for its speed, the lightscribe is for my Wife to use for
school disk.
Hope this is some help.
Bud Jarman.
